Mono Lake

Last weekend I drove east into the Eastern Sierra to Mono Lake and spent a memorable Saturday and Sunday morning at this incredible location. I made this image on Sunday morning after I spent the Saturday experimenting a lot with different compositions at different locations at and around the lake. I liked this composition for a sunrise capture the best, as it combines a view of the snow-covered peaks with the Tufa mounds in the lake, and both were lit up gently by the morning glow at just before sunrise. The Tufa also contrasts nicely with the darker landscape in the mid-ground.
