Even though we have arrived in Ethiopia already, I am still working on my backlog. This shot was also taken in Samburu. The elephant in the back is a young male that seemed to be searching desperately for his group. His streaming temporal glands on the sides of his head showed his anxiety. In the picture, the two females in the foreground, who happened to be in front of the group we were observing, seem to be agreeing on how to deal with the approaching male. After inspecting him more closely for a moment, the two females turned away and one of the young males of this group made it abundantly clear to the newcomer that he wasn’t welcome and the ┬ástranger stamped off along the river.
